July Currently!

How in the heck is it July already?!  Well, it isn't technically, but it's going to be here.  SOON.  I am super excited that Farley posted the Currently early.  I've been wanting something to post, so, here goes!

Listening:  All that I can hear right now is the A/C until humming.  It is wonderful.  No TV, no screaming child, no lumbering husband, no nothing!  I needed a bit of piece and quiet.  I feel like I was wound up way too tightly today.

Loving:  Today was really technically my first day of Summer Vacation!  I had a two day training that followed the last day of school.  So, I am officially on vacation!  Woot!

Thinking:  Yeah, I know.  I've just barely put this past year to rest and I am thinking about next year.  Although I have been given a huge hint that I am going to remain in the same grade/school, I can't help but wonder if things will change.  I will not get my official notice until the end of August.  Bummer!  My colleagues and I have been discussing doing a rainforest theme this year, so, I have been researching all kinds of things for that topic.  From books to decor to items on TpT...You name it; I've searched it.

Wanting:  Ugh, of course, as soon as vacation starts the weather turns yucky.  It's been nothing but rainy, cloudy, humid and stormy.  I want beach weather!  WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Needing:  There are a lot of changes going on in our district and some in our school as well.  I have been finding that I may be in a different room next year.  The planner in me needs to know. Like now.  I am so "Type A".

Tip:  Pace yourself.  I am still a budding blogger and I am often overwhelmed by the awesomeness of other teacher blogs out there.  I want to be just like them.  But, I must remind myself that Rome was not built in a day and that I have a life to live outside of blogging.  I wish I had more time to put toward creating TpT products and making my blog awesomesauce, but, I don't and I need to get over it.  So, if you are new at blogging; pace yourself.  It will always be a work in progress and it should always be fun!

HAPPY SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another year down!

Yesterday was our last day of school and it was bittersweet.  I am fairly certain that I will return to the same school next year, but, will be in a different classroom.  I had some great and not so great memories in that room and I will miss the air conditioner!  If all goes according to plan, I will be in an actual real classroom next year.  I can't wait to have more space!  I am going to miss my kiddos, especially those that I have had for two years.  We've built such an inedible bond; one even bawled his eyes out when he was headed home on the bus.  Broke. My. Heart.  I can only hope that I will return to the same school next year and be able to see my kiddos!

On another note, as you all probably know, Google reader will be shutting down Monday.  I have joined BlogLovin' to stay in the loop.  You should too if you haven't already! Follow my blog with Bloglovin.

This post is all over the place, because I too am all over the place.  Although yesterday was our last school day I have a 2 day training to complete.  Today was day one and my brain is fried.  I am ready for vacation!

End of the Year Shenanigans!

Although we still have 9 days of school left, things are stating to wind down.  I have finished doing my DIBELs assessments and my volunteer has helped me to complete the regular ELA/Math assessments this week.  So, that means I am in the midst of getting report cards done!  YAY!  I had taken a day off this week to get to a doctors appointment and I ended up spending some of that day working on completing some report cards.  This is what my dining room table looked like, well, half of it anyway!

We are also preparing for our Kindergarten Moving on Ceremony.  The Kinders will be singing along to "Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.  It's such a cute and upbeat version of the song.  Since there are five Kindergarten classes in our school we have separated into 3 classes and 2 classes.  I am one of the three classes and we have chosen this song for our graduation. I'm not sure what the other 2 teachers are planning on doing for their graduation.  Anywho, my very talented paraprofessional made these invitations which I sent home to the parents today:

Aren't they adorable?!  She's also made them graduation caps and she will also be putting together the balloon palm trees!  I will post pictures once they are created!

The last shenanigan for tonight is our staff field day.  A few weeks ago we were asked to pick a stick using this neat little app.  I ended up with "Team Green".  We weren't given any further information that day, but, a few days later we found out that we would be on teams competing in physical and mental games on June 21st after our Staff BBQ!  2 weeks ago we had to wear our team color.  That was simple for me as I have a school shirt in green!  Tomorrow we are supposed to wear team color socks.  That, was not easy for me...until I realized that my brother might still have his green baseball socks!  Low and behold, he did!  Here I am sporting the goods:

GO TEAM GREEN!

That is all for now.  I must keep telling myself, "I think I can, I think I can..."

June Currently!

How is it June already?!  I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by.  I still have sixteen more school days (ugh!), so, we are trying to keep things fun.  Tomorrow is our annual field trip; it's the big one.  We are going to Build-a-Bear!  The kids are so pumped!  With that said, here is my June Currently:

Listening:  To the shower running!  Last night the cartridge in the shower decided to stop working, so, all we were getting was cold water!  That was no fun!  Luckily, my hubby is a great handy man and he has fixed the problem!  YAY!

Loving:  It's JUNE, this is the final stretch!  Summer in unofficially here!  YAY!

Thinking:  I just completed my writing benchmark today as well as my DIBELs assessment.  Now, I just have some other little pieces of paperwork to complete and then it's on to the packing part.

Wanting:  As I a still of non-professional status, I am not guaranteed a position next year.  The district is making huge budget cuts and they are cutting 100 teaching positions.  I need to keep everything crossed that I do not get cut!

Needing:  I need down time with my family.  Ever since the warm weather arrived we have been working on the house and the yard non-stop.  I could use a day of fun!

3 Vacation Essentials:
1.  Sun.  I'll admit it, I loathe when it rains when I'm on vacation!
2.  Sand.  I love, love, love the beach!
3.  Camera.  I love photography so I am always taking pictures, especially on vacation!

Well, there it is.  I need to get back to some end of the year paper work.  Hope to "see" you all soon!
