Currently July!

I cannot believe July is here!  Mainly because I feel like this pregnancy flew by so quickly.  I am due in only 3 days, I can't believe it!

GUILTY!  I am listening to boy band music.  I was mainly in the mood for NKOTB but there is some good Michael Jackson on there.

I am so glad to finally be on vacation.  The last few days were brutal being 9 months pregnant and working without AC.

I am due in three days and I can't help but wonder when this little one is going to make her appearance.  My first daughter was already a day old at this point in my pregnancy so it's hard not to feel a little disappointed.

I need to move into my new classroom.  I went in today to check things out and move some things around and I am dog tired.

I think I am am all-star cake/cupcake decorator.  I love doing it!

My New Classroom

Seeing as I'm just hanging around waiting for this little one to make her appearance I thought I'd share some pictures I have taken of my new classroom.  I'm moving from a larger Kindergarten room to a smaller second grade room, but, this room does have its perks.  There is no carpeting in this room which is great!  The carpeting in the other classrooms are as old as the school and are in need of being replaced.  This room also gets a lot of sunlight, my old room did not.  This is a blessing and a curse.  I love, love, love natural light, it keeps me going, but in the Summer it will be hotter.  I am planning on going in tomorrow to take some measurements and to jot down where electrical outlets are as well as internet outlets.  That's just as long as I don't go into labor tonight!  Ok, time for the pictures:

This is looking to the front of the room from the back right corner.  You can see the front door to the left, this leads out into the hallway.  I have a lot of open space to play with and I am thinking I am going to put the desks into groups of 4.

This is the view from the front door area.  To the left you can see one of the back doors, this door opens up into the cafeteria.  On the back wall is my one and only window that opens.  I am afraid that I will die of heat in there in the Summer but a teacher that was previously in this room told me that there is a breeze.

This is the front of the room.  The teacher had her group teaching area over there.  I'm not sure if I will keep it that way or move it.  Not sure I like that the computers are there in the middle of it.

This is the wall on the right side of the room.  There is a door toward the left that leads into the classroom next to mine.  The one good thing about this wall is that it is completely magnetic!  Hoping to use this area to display student's work as well as hang anchor charts.

I'm hoping to come up with some really good ideas on how to set up the room once I get in, get measurements and find out where my limited amount of outlets are.  I hate moving into a new room, I feel like I never know how to set it up best.  How do you/did you decide to set up your classroom when you first moved in? Any suggestions?

Out with the old and in with the new...

I am moving to GRADE 2!!!!!!

I am so excited to announce that I am making the move from Kindergarten to Grade 2!  I have spent 5 years in Kindergarten and I have always known in my heart that I was not meant to be in Kindergarten forever.  I jumped on the chance to teach second grade as soon as the position opened up and am so excited!

I know it has been a long time since my last post, but, this year was a very tough one and I am currently 9 months pregnant!  Baby Sommer is due any day now!

I am very excited for my adventures in 2nd Grade and hope to be posting more because of it!  Tomorrow is the last day of school for the year, I am very excited!  Enjoy your summer everyone!

It's Currently August!

Wait, what?!  Where did the time go?  I feel like we just started summer vacation.  I know many teachers are already back to school, but, we don't go back until the end of August.  Anywho, here is my currently:

Listening:  I think I've said this before, but, I love Songza!  So many different playlists to match my moods or activities!

Loving:  I do still have a few more weeks of freedom left, but, I feel like the walls are closing in already!

Thinking:  My hubby is on a work trip that has been extended by a few days.  I sure am missing him!

Wanting:  Ugh, the weather hasn't been terrible here, but it doesn't feel like summer.  It's been mainly in the 70's and we've had a lot of wind and rain.  Not a good beach/pool summer.

Needing:  Honestly, I feel so content right now....I don't really "need" anything.  I'd "like" a lot of stuff/things/people/food, etc., but, I'm not in need.

1st Day:  We have a PD session that lasts 2 days (27th & 28th) then the kids start back on the 3rd of September.

Loving:  I am officially on vacation!

Thinking:  I know I am on vacation but I can't help to think about what I want to work on for next year!

Wanting:  Can't wait to be on vacation in NH!

Needing:  I need to pack for our NH vacation!

4th of July plans:  The tropical storm is coming!  Looks like we will be spending it inside!

New theme, new background!

I've had some extra time on my hands at night lately, so I changed up my blog style.  It matches the nautical theme that I will be doing next year in my classroom.  I have been working on getting things little by little to decorate my classroom.  It is a lot of fun and I cannot wait to start setting everything up!  I received a lot of great stuff from Creative Teaching Press via a great giveaway that Kerri hosted on her blog.

Here is a quick peek at some of the materials I received:
Jack O' Lantern Border

Sight Word Readers

Birthday Crowns

Motivational Poster

Nautical Bulletin Board Set

Borders!

All About Me Booklets
Postcards and Stickers!

I can't wait to use these products in my room!  Thank you again so much to Creative Teaching Press and Ms. Kerri!

June, June, June....

It's the month that many teachers in the Northeast look forward to.  And, I usually do too.  But, this year, I wasn't because I knew my hubby would be traveling a lot for work this June.  So here it is, the first of June and I am dreading the next 27 days.  Not because of school, but, because hubby will be in and out a lot.  :(  Anyway, to keep myself busy I worked on my Currently.

Listening:  DD got Disney Infinity at Easter time.  She has slowly but surely been learning how to play.

Loving:  I love that my family, neighbors and friends are very supportive and have offered to help in anyway they can this month.

Thinking:  I am super excited about my nautical theme for next year.  I cannot wait to get started on it!

Wanting:  I hate to wish the days away, but, I'd love for hubby to be done traveling!

Needing:  I was up at 4am to take the hubby to the airport.  I am ZONKED!

Bucket List:  Like I said, I can't wait to work on things for next school year!
Can't wait to spend time with my little family.
Read, read, read.  I never get to do enough of this!
